Why aren't weekends longer?

We had a lovely weekend. Micah got a nap in the hammock...  which is why he has the red mark on his cheek...he loves the thing
We went out for a ride with some of Ubers coworkers Sunday afternoon who just happen to be the nicest group!
And another garland is up in the shop

I'll be back tomorrow with a crafting project/mini tutorial.

Etsy Update

I've been adding some things to my etsy shop- not super interesting but it's where I've been. Things take much longer now then they used to!

Growth Charts- just the printed portion so you can decorate and finish them yourself.
I restocked the sunshine garland
and added two new versions
this blue one is my favorite
I have a few more that in the works... need to make a joanns run so it will probably be another year... yuck!

And here is the boy- I meant to post this picture with the video the other day as an AFTER shot he wore himself out! This was his first fall asleep while playing... I love it!
and here he is rocking his outfit from Grandma C she sent a box of awesome goodies- I need to show you the toys... they're awesome. We we're able to squeeze him in the shirt once- he's such a porker he is already up in 9 month clothing  (sometimes 12 month) but the pants will fit for a while longer.
Alright off to see what I can accomplish today!

Christmas Garland

It's been on my to do list to finish my Christmas garland ... and after a few weeks I can finally say it's complete!
Ridiculous right? I have no idea why I did this... it's just been in my head for a while... goodness knows I don't really have the time!
It took 4.5 yards of 3 different green colors and 1 yard of 2 different brown colors of yummy mixed wool felt, plus 2 yards of velvet ribbon to make this (roughly) 9ft long garland.... oh and brown grosgrain not sure how much of that but a 12 yard spool still has plenty left on it!
I know I made a bunch of the pine cones last year but I couldn't for the life of me get them to come out the same way... I wish I could remember I looked for a tutorial too but no one seems to be saying how they make them! They are fun to make but I was getting frustrated because I couldn't get any of them to go together the same way! If I figure it out I will try and draw something out to at least give people the gist.
I think this is going to be my new thing to have a really fun garland for every holiday- I already have valentines day done ... now I just have to get started on all of the rest of them... hahaha

Garland

I've been busy making this
Into this
The shop is now restocked with garland... more than I ever planned to make! So hopefully I won't be doing this again any time soon!!
I added three new kinds this time too-

Also I made this Blueberry Loaf last night and I am in LOVE. It is so so so so good that the whole thing is almost gone, and it was a very large loaf. I even used frozen blueberries (well I had personally frozen them but still SOOOO good!) I am going to be adding a link to my recipe page so I never loss the link!

I heart you.

Just in time for valentines day I completed my heart garland. I can't get enough of garlands I just love them.
I had this idea pop into my head and thought it sounded really cool. I was sure someone had done this before but I searched and couldn't find anything like it ... which meant I actually had to think about how it should be put it together...
bad idea! I TOTALLY underestimated the time this project would take. A heart garland ?! Sure no problem I can do that in two days! ... A week later I wanted to strangle myself, gouge my eyes out...anything to get me away from it!
But it is done, they're hung and I love them!
The details - I lost track of how many hearts there are but lets just go with A LOT... enough to do two garlands that are substantial in length. There are three colors of linen medium pink, dark pink, and a natural color. I used 7 or 8 different heart patterns and cut out as many as I could fit in to 1/3 yard of each color. I embroidered over half of the hearts with I don't even know how many different designs. Then I sewed the heart together and flipped them right side out, stuffed it and then hand stitched each one closed. Once that was done I arranged them all out and then strung them up with embroidery floss. On the end hearts I sewed in some 1/2" velvet ribbon (before the stuffing) for the garland to be hung up with.

Yes I am crazy...apparently I can't help myself.... but if it is any consolation my house was a complete mess by the time I was done! Uber was even picking stuff up! lol. (it is clean now but only because we have company) I had planned on doing a tutorial to go with this but I decided that I would spare you... please don't torture yourself making a hundred small hearts... it most likely won't bring out the best in you! But if you do still want one of your own go for it... I will even scan in my heart patterns and give them to you (and then I will laugh at you)

More crazyness later...

Shirts!

Amanda was totally up for some crafting while she was here so I taught her how to do freezer paper stenciling and we even got her all set up so she can continue when she gets back to her dorm!
We picked up some plain T's on Friday and she got busy with some sparrow designs.
How cute is that?

Next she went for a peacock! Which she was a little intimidated by but I think she did a marvelous job! What do you think?

I love the butt feathers!!!

I can't wait to see what she does with her new skills!!

While she was busy with her exact-o knife I made her a logo from some of her drawings. I have decided that everyone needs a logo!
Saturday we got the tree up and decorated. The house is decidedly more festive! I love Christmas lights!
I haven't added much to the tree since last year but I did manage to make up some garland. Its from the shell lamp I took apart last year to make my crystal lamp. I couldn't see throwing all the shells out so I kept them in a bag and finally realized they would be great for garland on the tree. They are perfect... now I just need more shells!
Oh and for a black Friday deal... Amanda got some wonderful deals but this is all I came home with (well for me anyway)!!
They're from Urban Outfitters .... you just can't resist this kind of awesomeness on sale! These suckers are HEAVY and around 3 inches tall. I just with they had done them in realistic colors.

Alright well I am off. Fair warning I may possibly disapear for a while again!
