Family Tree

I ordered this pattern after Jennifer blogged about it here. I had seen her prints a few years ago and saved the picture... and then had no idea where I had found it so I was super happy to find it again and to see that she had an embroidery version out because I like it even more than the print.
I thought it would be the perfect project for our car trip- and it was but it took considerably longer than our trip to complete... who knew traveling with a baby in the car gives you less time?

I went back and forth on pillow or wall hanging but pillow won out... I can always stretch it later...
I added the green stripe for fun- after having to do it on my other pillow I have grown to like the detail.

I need to find more short term projects to do so I have more to show you!

And just because look at what this guy got a hold of yesterday. His face cracks me up it's like - DUDE have you seen this stuff?-- AMAZING! Funny but I hope he doesn't make a habit of it!

Picnic Quilt Planning

It's been lovely outside so I decided to take Micah out to splash around on the patio and while I was at it I started  planning a picnic quilt that I have been collecting fabric for.
I couldn't find an average size for a picnic blanket so I decided 100"x100" seemed like plenty of room, and it could be a layer on our bed in the winter. I wanted to keep the blocks large so here's what I came up with...
I've been collecting yellow and green fabrics for a while. So I got to cutting and seeing what would fit where. It came together pretty quickly since there aren't that many pieces
Unfortunately I REALLY underestimate the size of a roughly 100"x100" quilt.... just over 8'.... SAY WHAT? I now have to figure out what on earth I am going to back it in a how I am going to quilt it.... But at least it will fit on our queen bed in the event I never want to take something this large outside....
Hope you all have a good weekend... I may or may not be back next week... depends on if this quilt eats me for dinner

New Pattern in the shop!

So I didn't get far on my cleaning... infact my house is worse than it was on my last post...ugh!
I had a request for a pattern for my owl. So I got busy (to the exclusion of all else) and it's now up in the shop!
I hope he does well I never intended to make him into a pattern.

Lazy Weekend

I was at least a little productive this weekend. I made up two new patterns for felt embroidery. You will be seeing more on the pattern part of this in the future. Meanwhile these originals are up in the shop!

The barn owl- how cute is he? Seriously I would love a barn owl as a pet... if I were talking to animals at the moment... which I am not.

Happy little mushrooms.
I have a few more on the way. I need to take a break though and get some other things done... like laundry, grocery shopping and those other unnecessary things we do.
I hope everyone else's New Years were happy and uneventful!

In the shop...

I have a few new covers that will be making their way into the shop. I have been playing with my graphics on the covers and this is the first one I can show you (you'll be seeing the other one soon...) My mum has been wanting me to use more of my graphic work on fabric so I am finally getting around to it!

Robert Kaufman lemon print on the inside. Love his fabric.
We are having a blast around here I have more to post about but haven't gotten any pictures yet.

Well I better get back to work we are having a stay at home in our pajamas and sew day.

Hope your having as much fun as us!

Needle Book Tutorial Completed!!!

Ok so I know your wondering where the Kitchen aide tutorial is but it's just not ready yet!!!

I did finish up this little tutorial and it's currently up in the shop. I am totally in love with it. I used to have a little jar full of needles and I was always lossing them.... which is one of the few things that makes Uber disgruntled!!! Go figure! Now with my fun little book they all seem to stay together and organized!

Well I am off I have been cooking and baking up a storm tonight... I need to eat something!!

Little Gifts

This is a quick project I did to include in some gift boxes I am sending out (someday) they are lavendar sachets like what I have up in the shop but they are smaller and the ribbon I added on them is positioned to hook onto hangers ... I guess the other ones could go on a hanger too... but I like this version more because there isn't as much ribbon to get caught up on stuff. Anyway they are just fun and something extra for some gift boxes...

not sure if I will make more to sell or not. I want to find a specific potpourri that I like to make some for myself but I cant seem to find anywhere that sell anything but the big chunky decorative stuff... yuck...I am not sure what the point of typing that last sentence was but I am just annoyed about it... so I guess you all should know about it!

This is where matt has been and will be for the next week (if the patches aren't sewn on right I dont want to know I did the best I could with a retarded diagram) I will be joining him tomorrow for the weekend and will hopefully have lots of fun pictures to share when I return so you wont be seeing me around these parts for a little while... but good news he passed his radar thing (which was the whole point of this trip) and he just finished his M-9 qualifications and scored highest in the group as a sharpshooter... we'll see if he can keep this up through the pool day...ahem...
