Another Bag

Another french seamed travel bag. This one is to store the sun shade for Micah's stroller. I scored an amazing amount of phil and ted loot for next to nothing at a local store going out of business- Awesome for me but also a bummer because the store was really cool.
The fabric is Studio e, Birds in brown, Naturology Fabric which I have had in my stash forever waiting for something boyish to be necessary, the inside is a coordinating teal fabric
I really love projects like this, so satisfying!

Jessica's Kitchen Aid Cover

I apologize for the terrible photos but I took these as a storm was rolling in and about 5 minutes after snapping these shots the power went out... ah Florida...
This mixer cover is for Jessica. The fabric it's Lily and Will by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda.
It looks a little large on my machine but I made it to fit the high capacity Professional Mixer- So I will add instructions on that in the tutorial... I still need to get a hold of an Artisan because I would like to tell you how to make a better fitted cover for that model as well...

A Manly Mixer Cover

Kris visited this past weekend and reminded me that he had requested a cover on his last visit - which was right after Micah was born... I had completely forgotten until he said something. So I whipped this cover up for him. I am totally digging the less fussy look.
The inside is just a solid black Kona
And the best part is they are super fast to sew up when you don't add the quilted strip! If you know a bachelor who loves to cook this would really be the perfect gift

Makeup Bag

I am SOOOO totally stoked about this. I came up with the idea this last week and finally found a few hours to whip it out this morning. It went together amazingly well, absolutely no issues in the process (which never happens). I absolutely love it! I think I am going to dress up the cover in the future when I have some time.

It 8 inches high and 15 across and the clasp is magnetic- which was totally easy!! It has plenty of room for everything I need. I finally don't have to worry about messing up my brushes when I travel. The side pocket holds only makeup stuff. My toiletry bag is still used for everything else.
Speaking of the pocket I don't know if you can tell but I totally lined up the fabrics pattern... to bad I didn't think of it on the brushes part! I don't know where that came from because I am SOOO not usually that on top of things! It could be the fact that I picked up some wondertape that my mum blogged about before starting this and let me tell you that stuff changes lives...haha... I had the zipper in and perfect in all of 5 seconds, usually it's twenty minutes of pinning and repinning and fighting with the machine. Buy it!

I used peltex (or what ever that hard interfacing is) on the outside so it holds it's shape.

Oh and I hide every seam because I am definitely OCD about about raw edges. I will probably do a tutorial sometime in the future for this... but there's no telling how long that will take me.
WIP's I have been crazy busy sewing. There will be a lot of kitchen aid covers available shortly I will show you them over the next week or so. I think I have 7 more. And I am feeling pretty confident with my pattern now so I will hopefully be getting around to finally creating a tutorial for these as well. This one has been so difficult because I will actually need to do a pattern piece... and it's not all going to fit on one page... argh!
Alright well I am off I have so much to do... so little time!

New Pattern in the shop!

So I didn't get far on my cleaning... infact my house is worse than it was on my last post...ugh!
I had a request for a pattern for my owl. So I got busy (to the exclusion of all else) and it's now up in the shop!
I hope he does well I never intended to make him into a pattern.

Needle Book Tutorial Completed!!!

Ok so I know your wondering where the Kitchen aide tutorial is but it's just not ready yet!!!

I did finish up this little tutorial and it's currently up in the shop. I am totally in love with it. I used to have a little jar full of needles and I was always lossing them.... which is one of the few things that makes Uber disgruntled!!! Go figure! Now with my fun little book they all seem to stay together and organized!

Well I am off I have been cooking and baking up a storm tonight... I need to eat something!!

Monday...

I was five minutes from having this done yesterday and it was all I accomplished tonight!

This is one of the tutorials I have been working on.... it's not quite there yet but I think I am getting closer!
I am at the point where I wish my mum was here so I could shove it all over to her and be like you explain it!!! Of course she is now happy that she isn't here!
She still has to test the pattern though so she might just wish she had written it to begin with!!
I hope all of your Mondays were more productive!!

Randomness and a few completed projects

I walked downstairs yesterday evening to see this. The lamp is not on, the sun coming through the kitchen window hit it just right it was gorgeous (far more colorful in person) and only lasted about two minutes... I hope it does it again!

So I got this idea a few Sundays ago when we were having the crazy storms and have been slowly working on it since when ever the weather agreed. I don't have a lot of jewelry and most of it I don't wear often. I love it all but mainly I have a few pieces that I wear constantly and the rest I just store in various jewelry boxes that never seem to have enough room. After untangling my necklaces for the hundredth time I came up with this idea.... I don't think I have ever seen anything like this out there before. But I am sure someone else has probably done it already. I searched the craft stores and came up with what I was looking for at Michael's ... of course in a terrible color. It is a front opening collectors cabinet it was on sale so it ran about $25. Here it is in pieces-
I didn't like the light wood color so I sanded it down and spray painted it in a semi gloss white. This took two cans... very annoying they really should have more paint then that in a can at $8 a pop...
I had a very clear image of how this was supposed to look and I wanted to use these hooks I searched everywhere for them and finally located them at Office Max... of course they don't carry them in store and they wanted $8 for shipping which I thought that was outrageous so I bought 16 gauge wire, pulled out my thing-a-ma-jig and made them myself... here's a quick example in case you want to make some:

I think they turned out pretty well....and they want $2 for 6 I made 13 for roughly $2.50

This is the backing for the collectors cabinet which I recovered in a pretty natural linen. Then I slid in all of the hooks spacing them out for various items I knew I would want to hang.
Here it is all put back together.
I tucked it away behind the door so people shouldn't really be seeing it... which is perfect. It's on my side of the bed though so I get to see it everyday and it makes me smile
A lot of this stuff I haven't worn in years and is just for sentimental value. My mums charm bracelet, my class pendant, a necklace my grandma gave me when I was maybe 6... and other things like that
My OCD tendency's are very obvious here. Everything has it's place.
Oh I also stuck broaches right into the board - I can't tell you how long I have been looking for a way to display these! I just love looking at them they are so sparkly. Joan and Mum should recognize them. They each gave me one of them when I was 9 I think? I don't know why they did I don't remember it being a special occasion or anything but I just remember feeling really special and loving them. I have no idea how I have held on to them for this long, a lot of my stuff disappeared during moves.
The invites came in! Kodak said to estimate 5 days printing 5 days shipping. They were printed the day after I ordered them and we got them in the mail just a few days later, less than a week for the turn around! Love that!
I think they turned out pretty awesome... even if I do say so myself. I've had wonderful feedback so far. Judy (who they were made for) about fell out. She said 'She didn't like them, she LOOOOVVVVEEEEDDDDD them!' (said with southern accent) And then I got a very long hug. Really you can't get better feedback then that I am thrilled. Now I just wish I could find people that want to pay me and that I would feel comfortable charging (just to note I was offered payment for my time on these but Linda and her family are incredibly good to Uber and I so I only do things for her if she accepts them as a gift)
My photos are lame sorry about that but I wasn't really sure how to photograph it.
More swaroski bracelet's for Ubers Mom (I've created a monster) She mailed me these beads so I could string them up for her. I am mailing them back to her tomorrow.
So I have been contemplating selling graphics that people can buy and then use to print up their own invites at home. I dont really want to go in the scrapbooking direction I am more into invites and party things. I have seen some people doing this - any feedback from you guys?? I would love your thoughts/suggestions!
Well I hope you all enjoyed my rambling! Not sure what I am going to have to show you next.... Ive got a million things started and not much even close to finished.
