New Toy

Uber bought me a new toy for the trip!

We've been wanting to get a new camera for a while but kept going back and forth on whether or not to get the new Canon Rebel T1i. Ultimately we decided to go with another point and shoot because we are REALLY lazy and I just know we won't carry it. We currently have a nice hand me down Lumix that is about the size the canon would be and we never carry it because we don't want the bulk and it won't fit into Ubers pocket, we just end up grabbing our old point and shoot that we've taken out kayaking too much and then gripe about it the whole time.

So far I am really happy with it! It has lived in my purse since we got it. Now I just need to sit down and actually read the instructions!

I finally finished this growth chart for a little friend who is already 3 months old... How did that happen so quickly?! I'm not sure how much his mom reads the blog... so hope this isn't spoiling anything. He has a monkey themed room.

It's a Goldfish!!! And I LOVE HIM!!

He's handpainted with amazing 100% wool felt hand sewn (of course). It kills me to cut into this felt it is so beautiful. But he is totally worth it!

He's for one of my small friends. I hope he likes him...he apparently likes fish... If not I may steal him back and hope he doesn't remember...because some day he will be bigger than me! (the boy not the fish)

I am already working on another one... who knows where it will go... maybe in the shop?!

Gifts for me!

Sherie sent me this guy for christmas. He is totally cracking me up.
This is what you expected right?!? I think his name is Bub... he's not sure about it though.

Gram sent me this. Totally digging it! She forgot to take a picture for her blog so I get to show you!!

It has been FREEZING here! Literally. All my plants are dead... moo. We recieved a care package (WOOT!) from some of our friends in St. Louis to help us get through.

Freaking scrumptious let me tell you!! He roasted it himself. And I fully plan to make him show me how to do this when we see him again. Better not tell me it's a family secret! Thank you guys!! I love it all!

Shower

So the shower was last night and I forgot to take pictures of the decorations prior to the shower. I cannot believe I slipped up with that I am blaming it on being exhausted. So here are a few that were taken during... they are kind of washed out but you will get the gist!
The baby's room is a butterfly theme so that is what we did for the shower.

This is the garland that hung over the food and cake. I made it out of punched paper adhered to grosgrain ribbon. I did them in four layers to give a 3d effect.

Over the gift table I did tissue paper poofs for the clouds and cut out butterflies to fly around them.

The mom-to-be really liked them she took all of the decorations home with her for the babies room, which is awesome because I would hate to have throw them out...and I think uber was really happy about it because I probably would have left them up for a while!!

last but not least here's the cake it was scrumptious. We didn't even put a dent in it. It's from Cinotti's bakery check it out if you are local.

Alright I am off.... to bed... at 9pm on a friday night!! Yes, I am that tired.

Step 2

Oh my goodness! I had no idea this would take SO LONG! What was I thinking? So here is what I have been up to for the last 10 days! Decorating my perfectly good quilt top with totally unnecessarily time consuming things... like peacocks! I love it. Even uber likes it... which I wasn't expecting!
Sorry I know the color is a little washed out but I had five seconds to take these pictures so I guess be happy that I got it finished and took pictures today!

I have been wanting to do a peacock for a few weeks... ever since I was shouting up the stairs at Uber and he thought I said peacock... I don't remember what I actually said but it wasn't and had nothing to do with a peacock. But then I wanted to do something with a peacock... Maybe that was Ubers plan all along.

These are some crazy birds. I looked at hundreds of pictures while drawing up my template and they are amazing! Some have tails literally 10 feet long... talk about junk in the trunk... hahaha....

I took a little bit of artistic license because I didn't want to get too detailed...

This little guy arrived in my mailbox Saturday! Is he not the cutest thing ever? Sherie made him. I laughed so hard when I unwrapped him. I am going to have to find an awesome spot for him!Uber's back finally - Yeah!

Ok I'm off to quilt... hopefully it won't take me 10 days again!

*edited to add* I just noticed that tomorrow is my 1 year mark for blogging... weird!
