P is for pillow

This is for a little someone ... though it will be a while before she receives it because I am working on something else that needs to be sent with it.... There is really nothing better then initials and favorite animals!

A Manly Mixer Cover

Kris visited this past weekend and reminded me that he had requested a cover on his last visit - which was right after Micah was born... I had completely forgotten until he said something. So I whipped this cover up for him. I am totally digging the less fussy look.
The inside is just a solid black Kona
And the best part is they are super fast to sew up when you don't add the quilted strip! If you know a bachelor who loves to cook this would really be the perfect gift

Simplicity Dress- modified

YEAH! My second dress is complete... after sitting around in my to do pile for weeks!
It's another Simplicity 2975
Mum of course supervised
The fabric is Chestnut Hill Ironwork
Pockets were added
and this time we modified the straps to have buttons ... for easy access
I really love it...

I made a dress

With Mums help - of course! It was fun but I will never be a regular clothing sewer... way to many instructions, and I am fully aware this is a super simple pattern!
I LOVE it! It's made from Modern Meadow Herringbone by Joel Dewberry in Lake
Unfortunately I won't get much use out of it until next year since it's not nursing friendly
But I have another one in the works that we altered to hopefully take care of that problem! Of course it has been in the same stage of incomplete for over a week now so who knows when I'll get around to finishing it!

Lumbar Pillow

I've been trying to add a little more pattern to our living room so I whipped up this little lumbar pillow
The fabric is from Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks line.
These two are so funny. I am going to be in so much trouble soon!

Did you think I would give up on the deer head?

Back on the inspiration board I posted for the nursery I had a deer head that zgalleries carries, unfortunately when I saw it in person the fantastic price showed in the quality of the item.... total let down (I love zgalleries though so no hard feelings)
I went through a bunch of ideas on how to make one and couldn't find a solution that I was sure I would be happy with -then I saw this nursery post and knew that was it. She actually got hers from here (there are none currently for sale). I of course decided to just make mine...
I finally sat down and got started today. I was amazed it didn't take me long I started working on it this morning and finished up this evening. That included a bunch of breaks and a trip out to Michael's to get the things I didn't have on hand.... I wish all projects went this quickly...and smoothly! So the pictures aren't the best but I just had to share tonight so you'll have to deal until later. It isn't even hanging in the nursery so the walls are totally the wrong color- I think she will look a lot better on a light blue wall!
It is in fact a doe... Uber says he doesn't mind so I am not going to worry about it! I probably could have added antlers but I really liked it without them!
She's a little bit snotty in expression but that just makes me laugh...

Her body is linen (big surprise) and the inside of her ears are a duponi silk. Almost everything on her is stuff I already had on hand I only spent $15 to make her. The most expensive thing was her nose... I went ahead and used a leather scrap... I probably should have just used felt but oh well!
Her eyelashes crack me up...
The plaque is Gun Metal Gray.
I LOVE ribbon... I hope it doesn't make it look too girly I just could not pass up the beautiful peacock blue ribbon when I saw it. All of the ribbon reminds me of a military uniform
I am really excited about the way it turned out. I hadn't made a stuffed animal before and was a little nervous about totally making up the pattern but I have to say it was super simple.
Hopefully I will be able to show you more of the nursery in the next month... no promises though... it's kind of boring at this point I have a lot of things done but not enough to be interesting. I will continue to show you the projects I do complete which will start giving you sneak peaks at different parts of the room...

I still do stuff!

A Travel Bag for Uber. We are going to be doing a bit of traveling so I finally took the five seconds to wipe this project out, it's been on my to do list for an embarrassingly long time! The outside is a dark chocolate heavy linen. with blue seersucker lining.

I modified the pattern to have handles. I think it makes it look more guy-ish. It turned out really well... thank goodness! I would probably add the zipper tab back on if I do it again... wasn't thinking.

Something fun. The original photo on the cover of this book is mine (it has been HEAVILY photoshoped... hahaha) I am in no way even slightly pretending to be a photographer. Please don't ask me to take a picture.... ever!
Another long over due project completed. One I roped Uber into. It's a picture board for our church's building. It's off being stained by someone else now... ahhh it's nice to be pregnant when things need to be stained!
This is just to prove to you all that I have been accomplishing something (a lot more is in the works... if I could just get any of it completed!)
Back tomorrow with pictures from our Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta (Ohhhh...Ahhhh!)

Tidbits

Finally pictures of the beautiful clothing my mum made and sent to me. It took me longer to get the straps pinned and sewed on then it took her to make the entire dress... I am just so slow lately! I LOOVVVE this dress and the fabric- it reminds me of drapes (this is a good thing) which reminds me of the movie The Sound of Music when she sews clothing for the kids out of the drapes... and the mustard yellow color makes me so happy!
Uber was not doing a great job with the pictures so this is the best out of the bunch and I have no idea why I was pointing at the plant... I was trying to get the jasmine behind me in the photo to show my mum how huge it is. And I just realized that these are in the wrong order since I FINALLY got a hair cut... 7 months is too long to go without a hair cut! She had to chop a lot off to make it healthy... plus all the hair my stylist is cutting right now is being collected to make mats that will suck up the oil spill... not sure on all the details but hey why not give your hair for a good cause right?!
This skirt is great it feels like air on and is so comfortable to put on because it doesn't put a ton of pressure on my stomach. SOOOO nice ! The belly bands you can buy are great for extending your non maternity wardrobe but my stomach tends to hurt from all of the pressure by the end of the day!

My tiny garden is growing like crazy
And just for fun... hmmm fun maybe the wrong term... I came across this cleaner at Williams-Sonoma and had to try it out. This totally satisfies my OCD tendencies I have an awesome stainless steal cleaner that is environmentally friendly and does wonders for the inside of my pots but I couldn't get the bottoms of my pots clean (these stains long predate the cleaner and wouldn't budge). Bar Keepers Friend does an amazing job everything looks brand new again with very minimal scrubbing. I'm totally in love!

Feel free to laugh at my need to keep the bottom of my pots clean... I know I have issues!

Lazy Weekend

I was at least a little productive this weekend. I made up two new patterns for felt embroidery. You will be seeing more on the pattern part of this in the future. Meanwhile these originals are up in the shop!

The barn owl- how cute is he? Seriously I would love a barn owl as a pet... if I were talking to animals at the moment... which I am not.

Happy little mushrooms.
I have a few more on the way. I need to take a break though and get some other things done... like laundry, grocery shopping and those other unnecessary things we do.
I hope everyone else's New Years were happy and uneventful!

In the shop...

I have a few new covers that will be making their way into the shop. I have been playing with my graphics on the covers and this is the first one I can show you (you'll be seeing the other one soon...) My mum has been wanting me to use more of my graphic work on fabric so I am finally getting around to it!

Robert Kaufman lemon print on the inside. Love his fabric.
We are having a blast around here I have more to post about but haven't gotten any pictures yet.

Well I better get back to work we are having a stay at home in our pajamas and sew day.

Hope your having as much fun as us!
