My Day

I had an awesome birthday! Uber took the day off and we 'slept in' - not really Micah wanted to be up! So we loaded up the truck
and headed out for a bike ride to try out my new shoes and clips... I only fell over once... it kind of hurts but it was rather funny it's like slow motion as you tip over...especially since I wasn't moving.... My right clip was too tight so I couldn't get my foot out. Anyway there will be no scarring from this fall so whatever!
I thought you might be interested in seeing the trail. A lot of it is canopied it's really very pretty it goes for 14 miles and is all paved (it used to be train tracks) you pass all sorts of farm animals- though I didn't think to take pictures of them. It was gorgeous today but in the summer it will be too hot to ride.  We went about 10 miles - long enough to be fun but not to wear you out.
Micah enjoys it as long as his toys are reachable
Uber would rather be off road biking but he is nice enough to take this easy trail so that Micah and I can tag along! He tried taking Micah off the paved road last time and Micah is not into it! It was rather funny Micah protested until he was back on the paved road and then he settled back down.
Next we came home and cleaned up and headed to the beach. Not for a long time just long enough to relax and enjoy the view
This is the roof top deck of the Casa Marina Hotel it has gorgeous views.
Then we headed over to Mum and Dads where Uber made me a ridiculously awesome dinner. Beef Saltimboca, Roasted Potatoes, Salad... so yummy in fact I need to go make myself a plate of left overs! And there was cake! Chocolate with Espresso frosting Mum hooked it up!
It was such a fun day! Possibly my best birthday ever. Between Uber and Micah and quite a bit of my family being here. And my gifts were all together ridiculous. Is it rude to tell everyone all of the awesome stuff you received? I'm not sure so I'll hold off and maybe show you some of the awesomeness over the next few days as I get to use it!

The Beach and Kayaking

Doesn't this make you want to grab a towel and a book? The perfect amount of cloud cover to keep it cool.
I just like Ubers face in this shot

A ship coming in the channel... it looks like it's running aground.

We sat a read magazines while the guys swam (floated) I censored for all of your sakes. (plus I am sure mum appreciates it!) This is the new umbrella we got I LOVE it! Umbrellas are definitely worth the money.

Saturday we tried out kayaking - I had never been. We went through the inlets out to the ocean... though not into the ocean. It was a total blast! Who knew?! I think it might actually count as exercising
See I am working hard!! ... this is how I like to kayak, the problem is he stops rowing when I do..what gives?
It was fun seeing all the different kinds of birds.

This is Jorge my pet crab that didn't want to leave after I caught him!

Herme... isn't he cute?

Uber giving a gooberish smile

I wanted to catch this one but ... I think I probably would have gotten hurt in the process so I didn't try... plus he was too fast.

Blogger is really ticking me off I cant get this picture to go to the end of the post this is the beach up in Amelia Island I just thought it was pretty... it's not supposed to be in the middle of kayaking... oh well I love all of the goofy bridges.

Posing for the camera

He is just so funny....

We totally dug kayaking. It was a blast having Mum and Dad out here and trying things we hadn't gotten to do before. I think this about wraps up their trip, at least the Florida part. I will show you some more crafting we accomplished though.
BTW I sold a onesie!! Woot!

Randomness and a few completed projects

I walked downstairs yesterday evening to see this. The lamp is not on, the sun coming through the kitchen window hit it just right it was gorgeous (far more colorful in person) and only lasted about two minutes... I hope it does it again!

So I got this idea a few Sundays ago when we were having the crazy storms and have been slowly working on it since when ever the weather agreed. I don't have a lot of jewelry and most of it I don't wear often. I love it all but mainly I have a few pieces that I wear constantly and the rest I just store in various jewelry boxes that never seem to have enough room. After untangling my necklaces for the hundredth time I came up with this idea.... I don't think I have ever seen anything like this out there before. But I am sure someone else has probably done it already. I searched the craft stores and came up with what I was looking for at Michael's ... of course in a terrible color. It is a front opening collectors cabinet it was on sale so it ran about $25. Here it is in pieces-
I didn't like the light wood color so I sanded it down and spray painted it in a semi gloss white. This took two cans... very annoying they really should have more paint then that in a can at $8 a pop...
I had a very clear image of how this was supposed to look and I wanted to use these hooks I searched everywhere for them and finally located them at Office Max... of course they don't carry them in store and they wanted $8 for shipping which I thought that was outrageous so I bought 16 gauge wire, pulled out my thing-a-ma-jig and made them myself... here's a quick example in case you want to make some:

I think they turned out pretty well....and they want $2 for 6 I made 13 for roughly $2.50

This is the backing for the collectors cabinet which I recovered in a pretty natural linen. Then I slid in all of the hooks spacing them out for various items I knew I would want to hang.
Here it is all put back together.
I tucked it away behind the door so people shouldn't really be seeing it... which is perfect. It's on my side of the bed though so I get to see it everyday and it makes me smile
A lot of this stuff I haven't worn in years and is just for sentimental value. My mums charm bracelet, my class pendant, a necklace my grandma gave me when I was maybe 6... and other things like that
My OCD tendency's are very obvious here. Everything has it's place.
Oh I also stuck broaches right into the board - I can't tell you how long I have been looking for a way to display these! I just love looking at them they are so sparkly. Joan and Mum should recognize them. They each gave me one of them when I was 9 I think? I don't know why they did I don't remember it being a special occasion or anything but I just remember feeling really special and loving them. I have no idea how I have held on to them for this long, a lot of my stuff disappeared during moves.
The invites came in! Kodak said to estimate 5 days printing 5 days shipping. They were printed the day after I ordered them and we got them in the mail just a few days later, less than a week for the turn around! Love that!
I think they turned out pretty awesome... even if I do say so myself. I've had wonderful feedback so far. Judy (who they were made for) about fell out. She said 'She didn't like them, she LOOOOVVVVEEEEDDDDD them!' (said with southern accent) And then I got a very long hug. Really you can't get better feedback then that I am thrilled. Now I just wish I could find people that want to pay me and that I would feel comfortable charging (just to note I was offered payment for my time on these but Linda and her family are incredibly good to Uber and I so I only do things for her if she accepts them as a gift)
My photos are lame sorry about that but I wasn't really sure how to photograph it.
More swaroski bracelet's for Ubers Mom (I've created a monster) She mailed me these beads so I could string them up for her. I am mailing them back to her tomorrow.
So I have been contemplating selling graphics that people can buy and then use to print up their own invites at home. I dont really want to go in the scrapbooking direction I am more into invites and party things. I have seen some people doing this - any feedback from you guys?? I would love your thoughts/suggestions!
Well I hope you all enjoyed my rambling! Not sure what I am going to have to show you next.... Ive got a million things started and not much even close to finished.

Memorial Weekend - Part 2

Were doing this in the wrong order since blogger only seems to attach videos to the bottom.

So Sunday we took Kristen to the beach. However we have one of the worst setups down here as far as eating on the water goes... you can't do it and actually see the ocean unless your cool with going to Joe's Crab Shack... which I think is just totally lame. Sure as you are walking down the beach you will see a lot of beautiful buildings serving yummy food and drinks on huge terraces under large umbrellas and you will think - Hey I can eat there! But you would be sadly mistaken because they are all country clubs and you aren't welcome there. (yeah I am slightly bitter about this, and you would be too - they're food is VERY good.) So we heard about this place called Lulu's and it is situated on the inter coastal deep on a road where you would never have found it without someone telling you about it. It was SOOO yummy and very very fresh. We even ordered alligator- which is very good by the way. We will totally be bringing Mum and Dad here when they come (in 13 days!!!!).

So back to Saturday we finally got our golf on. I think we all enjoyed ourselves I made up a video from the footage we took. I was hoping Kristen would get on this because he is the video maker among us but so far nothing has show up so you get a sample of my newly acquired skills. Music choice is courtesy of Uber. Kristen is nothing but a victim.

I think this gives you a pretty realistic sample of a day golfing with us... only I am not as good as I totally cut it to look like... however the chasing and far to close picture taking of the wildlife is completly accurate. Also I take full resposibility for the wrong way shooting... I was leaning completely across Uber while he was driving to catch that... of course I take video the wrong way quite often so really... I am just cool like that...

just trying to keep it real around here. I hope you guys like it... though I will be suprised if you watch it (its not that long by the way)
