I love visitors!
***WARNING*** picture heavy post that may only interest family members!

Brinkley is VERY over being confined to his leash on the beach. Beau is being slow about getting him a longer leash so he can really enjoy the water. Even though the weather was gorgeous the water is still very cold.
Adorable Corrie!
We walked a little and then popped a squat until we were all sufficiently pink!
Wednesday night we went to see Ingrid Michaelson and Mat Kearney perform at the Florida Theatre (poor Uber had school). It was a fantastic concert Corrie wanted to see Ingrid and Beau wanted to see Mat. I personally was just excited to go out and hear live music. I don't keep up with specific artists I just like music but it turns out I liked a lot of their music already I just didn't know it was theirs.

Here's both the bands, plus the girl(s) who opened the show Cara Salimando. They all sang together at the end. If you get a chance to see them in concert I would definitely jump at it. Ingrid was very funny, had a great stage presence and was also very nerdy which is completely endearing.
Thursday was bit overcast but Uber took Beau and Corrie out kayaking.
They both enjoyed it. Which is good because we were planning on dragging Beau out with us whether he liked it or not!

We went down to Saint Augustine yesterday.
Goofed off at the fort.
And then headed back up to the pier in Jacksonville to goof off a little more before finally going home so Corrie could finish up homework.

But not before bugging a few birds...

This one did NOT like Beau he was having none of him scooting closer to him.

We got Corrie dropped of at the airport this morning. We had planned on going out to the beach and hitting up an antique store I keep forgetting about but the weather got a lot colder today so instead I dragged Uber to Lowes to buy new plants !!!! My FAVORITE thing to do!
Brinkley is staying with us this weekend and he has finally decided he does like going out the back door (before it was torture you had to force him through the door and then he would cower the whole time he was outside) This morning I walked out back and was sliding the door shut and he came barreling towards the door to follow me and ran smack into the glass. It was really funny... but not.

Just Enough Sunshine
We finally got back out on the water today after quite a few uncooperative weekends. We almost didn't make it out after such a long week it was hard not to just sleep in. It of course was fantastic as we knew it would be. The rain and storms held off till the evening but the day was over cast and the perfect temperature to be in and on the water without being uncomfortable.
The tide was VERY low on our way out and there wasn't much wildlife
Most that we did see was flying.
How about this bird though? I still haven't looked it up to see what it is but it was HUGE I think at least up to my shoulders. The darn thing wouldn't fly off, we waited for quite a while to see if it would. A four foot tall bird has to look cool flying.
I love this photo it looks great blown up.
Uber dropped one chip in the water accidentally and there was not a bird around. Within 2 minutes 3 showed up and were very agitated wanting to get the chip. Ubers down in the corner and they were flying very close to his head. He had to splash them a few times.
My shell booty for the afternoon. I LOVE clam shells especially when you have both sides this island/jetty is the only place I have ever found any and today was a very good day for them
There were hundreds of them covering the beach, I have never seen anything like it. It looked like there were white bubbles covering the whole length of the beach.
Happy feet
We sit and eat our picnic in the water and I started feeling something tickling my feet and realized a bunch of small fishes were swarming our toes it was the funniest feeling. I told Uber maybe we were getting that new treatment the spas are doing with the fish for free.... anyway I just had to try and catch one... because that is what I do... isn't he cute? Don't worry I released him. I am wondering what kind of fish he is.
Well Uber is heading off for reserves tomorrow and we have company here at least through Monday. They have turned out to be lovely people which has been fun. I haven't gotten a single thing done though... which accounts for the lack of posting. They went off to Savannah for the weekend and I am hoping they enjoy themselves. I am going to try and get some crafting started up again tomorrow during some down time... wish me luck!

Maiden Voyage
So before Mum and Dad left we went kayak shopping. We're 'storing' their kayak until they get back to the states and can use it. Last weekend we took it out for the first time and it was a blast! It's a sit on top so it's a little different than the ones we had rented the week before, it's also shorter since this one can be used as a single or double kayak.
I have decided that this is the absolute best way to get to the beach! Yes it is even better then driving up and unloading you car right on the sand. Its so much fun to just load up the kayak and row for an hour or so and then stop on the beach somewhere for lunch.
As opposed to the week before the tide was coming in when we left the dock and out on our way back in-- WOW it is a lot harder when you are going against the current... and in this case the wind as well. We went South this time which doesn't get you to the beach as easily as going north.
This direction snakes you through the inlets out onto a river and then out into the ocean. It was a little crowded on the river. In the picture up above we are sitting at the mouth of the inlet and I am not really sure I want to go any farther, with all of the large boat traffic there are some pretty large wakes... and we have stuff in the boat we don't want to loose if it tips.
Hope you all had a good 4th! I will try and show you what we were up to tomorrow.
We ended up not heading out any farther (which meant no ocean) but instead rowed straight across the river to a very small island that was almost completely under the water (because of high tide) since there was no sand left we just plopped down in the shallow water to eat our picnic... which is usually what we do at the beach anyway so it wasn't a big deal!
This was the little bit of island left ...
We didn't stay out as long or go as far since it was twice the work... but it was alot of fun for the first trip!
Ubers so good he loads the kayak in and out of the truck with out my help...
Here's a few funny clips from our afternoon. Mum and Dad will appreciate them, though I think anyone would find them funny ... or maybe not... I laughed though. To give a little back ground the grass you see in the water is way above our head at low tide so Uber decided that since we could we should go straight though the middle of it instead of rowing around it normal people.
Hope you all had a good 4th! I will try and show you what we were up to tomorrow.

The Beach and Kayaking
Doesn't this make you want to grab a towel and a book? The perfect amount of cloud cover to keep it cool.
I just like Ubers face in this shot
A ship coming in the channel... it looks like it's running aground.
We sat a read magazines while the guys swam (floated) I censored for all of your sakes. (plus I am sure mum appreciates it!) This is the new umbrella we got I LOVE it! Umbrellas are definitely worth the money.
Saturday we tried out kayaking - I had never been. We went through the inlets out to the ocean... though not into the ocean. It was a total blast! Who knew?! I think it might actually count as exercising
See I am working hard!! ... this is how I like to kayak, the problem is he stops rowing when I do..what gives?
It was fun seeing all the different kinds of birds.
This is Jorge my pet crab that didn't want to leave after I caught him!
Herme... isn't he cute?
Uber giving a gooberish smile
I wanted to catch this one but ... I think I probably would have gotten hurt in the process so I didn't try... plus he was too fast.
