Fort Bragg and Mendocino

We drug Ubers parents on a quick 3 day mini vacation out to the coast. I really wanted to get Micah to the water... not that he will remember or anything but we took a ton of pictures... I tried to narrow it down but this is a picture heavy post.
The first day we headed out to Fort Bragg it was a gorgeous clear warm day- totally not what we packed for it should have been cold.
We went to two beaches the first was Glass Beach - it used to be a dump but it has been cleaned out and now there is massive quantities of super small glass pebbles. I spent at little time searching out blues and even found a red one- I could spend hours doing this, I try to get glass at every beach I go to ... it's Ubers favorite thing! If you ever get the chance this beach though small was a lot of fun.
I loved this plant it was growing everywhere, it's vivid colors are beautiful. my dad informed me it's ice plant.
Mum says it looks like I Photoshoped us into this picture...
You really can't beat the beauty of Northern California's Coast
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this picture?? (Hint: one of these things is not like the others)
Why didn't I climb up there? Oh that's right I was to busy looking for glass...
The following pictures are at MacKerricher's State Park where we went to play in the tide pools... because everyone knows I love to pet small defenseless animals...
Here's Micah dipping his feet in the chilly (ridiculously cold) water... he didn't seem to mind a bit (of course he didn't try to lunge into the water like normal either)
This is the tide in the first day we were there
The next morning we were out at 10am for low tide Uber and I took Micah out to see what we could find
We saw quite a few star fish but this was the only one I was fast enough to get
 Sea Anemone
Almost got this guy he managed to get two fingers stuck at the tips...
My favorite find was this sea urchin. It's so weird how they dry out! It's currently on the back porch ... I can't wait until it stops smelling!
SEA SLUG! Seriously how gross is this?
This is how Micah traveled through the tide pools
It was only a little nerve racking...
 What's up with this face?!
This is the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, absolutely gorgeous. You can even rent the light keepers cottage as a vacation home.

Micah enjoyed popping all of the daisy heads off the flowers.
Well I guess this is the only Mendocino picture we really took. It looks gorgeous (and it was) but there was dense fog so if you looked out to the headlands and ocean you could see nothing but directly across the street from the bluff was beautiful... I guess we will just have to go back again because the area is beautiful and I would love to see it on a clear day!
One more post and I will wrap up the trip... then crafting I promise!

Summers here

And boy have we gotten busy. It mostly has something to do with a mobile boy and a husband that has been taking a lot of business trips. And since getting things done seems to be impossible some days I have been doing fun things instead. Things that keep Micah entertained. I'm sure you all relate!

Over Memorial day we headed out to Destin Beach on the 'west' coast of Florida to see Ubers oldest brother and his family. They hadn't met Micah yet so it was a fun trip and Micah got to meet his cousin (1st? 2nd? always forget how that works) She is 4 months older than him. It was highly entertaining since she alternated between trying to kiss him and wrestling/sitting on him. Micah didn't really appreciate either scenario but the rest of us thought it was funny...
Micah has been enjoying food. He especially likes it when we have noodles since my Dad drapes them across his head... highly entertaining to watch him try and locate them and then eat them.
These two are getting along great. Brinkley is finally seeing the perks of having him around. I came around the corner the other day and Brinkley was helping himself to Micah's Cheerios... not that Micah seemed to mind I think they have  deal worked out - Cheerios for pulling hair...
He's been 'mobile' for a few months doing a rather special sit/move forward/sit thing but it turned into true crawling a little over a week ago and he gets faster every day. At the same time he started crawling he figured out pulling up. He still hasn't realized he can pull up on anything (thank goodness). It was a big surprise to walk into this last Friday. He was upset and yet still very proud of himself! I think the upset part might of been he wasn't sure how to sit back down.
Or last few weekends... and probably most of the ones to follow have been spent out at the beach. We pack up early and drive out with the kayaks then we all go out and when Micah is over it we take turns heading out and bumming around. This is actually on the inlet- the true beach is on the other side of the dunes behind me. But this side has calmer water and less people. Two weekends ago Dad and Uber followed a dolphin around and last weekend Uber saw a sea turtle. Micah LOVES the water and wears himself out... if you notice he's asleep in the tent. I should be getting our beater camera back soon so we can take it out on the water and get more pictures.
I've been terrible about formal pictures so most everything of him is snapshots- need to try and get a better shot of him in this outfit though... it's seriously awesome.
Mom made him this shirt a few weeks ago out of fabric I bought for his sea turtle quilt and then didn't use.
The baby Levi's are from his Uncle and the converses are from his Cousin. The whole thing cracks me up!
He's growing up so fast!

Playing catch up ... again

Micah wants to show you his teeth
(though I must admit they are a lot farther along now then this picture)
We took him on his first kayak ride
It wasn't long but he seemed to enjoy it
I enjoyed not having to pretend like I was helping

unfortunately a crazy storm blew in and we all had to vacate the beach ... see the guy in the background? The wind and sand was out of control
Uncle Kris came out for a visit-if you hadn't picked up on that- Micah and him had a blast
He is now known as Mega Me...
 Their similar expressions are uncanny
And for all of you who don't have a beach near here's a gratuitous dolphin shot
And a fresh from a swim baby eating his first Ritz cracker
And one for the road -- who knew the car seat could fit in the mini?
Hope you all had wonderful weekend!

Lots of firsts-- Easter weekend

WARNING - Super long picture overload post for last weekend

We're going to work backwards... because Easter seems like it should come first!
I was totally a slacker for Micah's first Easter I will probably be one of those Moms that goes a little over board on holidays but until he will really remember it I figure I will just save my energy. So the only reason we even dyed eggs was because Grandma remembered to buy stuff.
Micah sucked on them-which covered his face in dye... oops!
This is my favorite picture it reminds me of Smeagol on Lord of the Rings... my pretty!
He totally looks like he is dancing here.
Saturday was our first hang out at the beach day. We took Micah on his first Ferry ride it's all of about 5 minutes which to me seems like the perfect amount of time!
I don't know why he made the face in the picture above but it cracked us up- he was super happy as you can see below!
Here's our little shark at the beach - Mum picked up a half tent that rocks! Micah is finally sitting up by himself - for short periods of time - he had just fallen over.
This child has no fear he thought the water was awesome

His Dad even took him out an let him bob around (which made some of us a little nervous)
But Micah will let you know if he's not down
When he was thoroughly worn out he went up and napped with his Grandma. She is a good pillow.
Friday night we went over to have out first dinner at Micah's Great Grandmas house. I don't think we've said anything about it but they just moved to the area. Micah has his own seat in the corner
He loves visiting. Sadie (the dog) loves being pet - I have a video I will upload at some point to show you!
Can you believe that chin?!
Alright well I must get my day started! Hope you all enjoyed your weekends!
