Playing catch up ... again

Micah wants to show you his teeth
(though I must admit they are a lot farther along now then this picture)
We took him on his first kayak ride
It wasn't long but he seemed to enjoy it
I enjoyed not having to pretend like I was helping

unfortunately a crazy storm blew in and we all had to vacate the beach ... see the guy in the background? The wind and sand was out of control
Uncle Kris came out for a visit-if you hadn't picked up on that- Micah and him had a blast
He is now known as Mega Me...
 Their similar expressions are uncanny
And for all of you who don't have a beach near here's a gratuitous dolphin shot
And a fresh from a swim baby eating his first Ritz cracker
And one for the road -- who knew the car seat could fit in the mini?
Hope you all had wonderful weekend!

I love visitors!

***WARNING*** picture heavy post that may only interest family members!

Corrie got here on Monday morning and our weather decided to behave beautifully for her. I took Tuesday off and we met up with Beau and Mason (Beau's room mate that I am sure you will be seeing more of around here... better picture of him farther down in the post)
Brinkley is VERY over being confined to his leash on the beach. Beau is being slow about getting him a longer leash so he can really enjoy the water. Even though the weather was gorgeous the water is still very cold.
Adorable Corrie!

We walked a little and then popped a squat until we were all sufficiently pink!
Wednesday night we went to see Ingrid Michaelson and Mat Kearney perform at the Florida Theatre (poor Uber had school). It was a fantastic concert Corrie wanted to see Ingrid and Beau wanted to see Mat. I personally was just excited to go out and hear live music. I don't keep up with specific artists I just like music but it turns out I liked a lot of their music already I just didn't know it was theirs.

Here's both the bands, plus the girl(s) who opened the show Cara Salimando. They all sang together at the end. If you get a chance to see them in concert I would definitely jump at it. Ingrid was very funny, had a great stage presence and was also very nerdy which is completely endearing.
Thursday was bit overcast but Uber took Beau and Corrie out kayaking.
They both enjoyed it. Which is good because we were planning on dragging Beau out with us whether he liked it or not!

We went down to Saint Augustine yesterday.
Goofed off at the fort.
And then headed back up to the pier in Jacksonville to goof off a little more before finally going home so Corrie could finish up homework.

But not before bugging a few birds...

This one did NOT like Beau he was having none of him scooting closer to him.

We got Corrie dropped of at the airport this morning. We had planned on going out to the beach and hitting up an antique store I keep forgetting about but the weather got a lot colder today so instead I dragged Uber to Lowes to buy new plants !!!! My FAVORITE thing to do!
Brinkley is staying with us this weekend and he has finally decided he does like going out the back door (before it was torture you had to force him through the door and then he would cower the whole time he was outside) This morning I walked out back and was sliding the door shut and he came barreling towards the door to follow me and ran smack into the glass. It was really funny... but not.
Anyway he sat and watched us the whole time we worked. What a dorky dog.
COLOR!!
I am SOOOO happy spring is here.

Last Weekend of Summer

We wanted to take advantage of our last official weekend of summer (haha OK so yeah that is funny) so we decided we should hit the water again for a little kayaking. There was a 50% chance of rain but as you can see we were fine. What wasn't fine though was the tide working against us both ways! We headed out right at the end of high tide... which was pretty cool the water was a solid 8 feet above low tide.
This is looking out to the ocean from the bridge. Usually what you see is a ton of grass and a windy river that you have to weave through to get out to the open water. Well when it's high tide you can practically shoot straight down the middle. We hit the ocean fast!
As we were rowing through some of the taller grass i was slightly freaked out by these black things on the grass. At first I was worried they were spiders because there were webs around

But when we slowed we saw they were crabs. There were TONS of them all through the grass.
There were some that were much larger but they were too fast to get a photo of.
I'm so glad they weren't spiders!
We finally made it out to our beach... but it was almost completely under water! And let me tell you this is a very large beach. The little land that was left above water was so saturated that you sunk a good 6 inches with ever step... not cool!
We had a very quick snack and then took off again since we were going to be fighting the tide on the trip back.
And of my goodness did we fight it! We were a little worried we weren't going to make it back. (not joking!) this next shot is grass that we had rowed over on the way out! Can you imagine fighting that much water flowing at you?
Another shot of the bridge on our way back you can see how much the water dropped and this was just 2 hours later.
Well enough about kayaking!
We spent tonight with the cable repair man trying to get our Internet and cable working.... apparently the evil cable auditors came by and put a blocker on our line... we aren't really sure why they would do this but it wiped out all of our service... and while uber was trying to figure out what was going on our modem died! So a new modem and a visit to remove the blocker and we are back up after having nothing all weekend... I had no idea how important the Internet is to me!
Anyway I am crafting... it's all in progress and slow going so I will have to show you that later!

Just Enough Sunshine

We finally got back out on the water today after quite a few uncooperative weekends. We almost didn't make it out after such a long week it was hard not to just sleep in. It of course was fantastic as we knew it would be. The rain and storms held off till the evening but the day was over cast and the perfect temperature to be in and on the water without being uncomfortable.

The tide was VERY low on our way out and there wasn't much wildlife
Most that we did see was flying.

How about this bird though? I still haven't looked it up to see what it is but it was HUGE I think at least up to my shoulders. The darn thing wouldn't fly off, we waited for quite a while to see if it would. A four foot tall bird has to look cool flying.
I love this photo it looks great blown up.
Uber dropped one chip in the water accidentally and there was not a bird around. Within 2 minutes 3 showed up and were very agitated wanting to get the chip. Ubers down in the corner and they were flying very close to his head. He had to splash them a few times.
My shell booty for the afternoon. I LOVE clam shells especially when you have both sides this island/jetty is the only place I have ever found any and today was a very good day for them
There were hundreds of them covering the beach, I have never seen anything like it. It looked like there were white bubbles covering the whole length of the beach.
Happy feet
We sit and eat our picnic in the water and I started feeling something tickling my feet and realized a bunch of small fishes were swarming our toes it was the funniest feeling. I told Uber maybe we were getting that new treatment the spas are doing with the fish for free.... anyway I just had to try and catch one... because that is what I do... isn't he cute? Don't worry I released him. I am wondering what kind of fish he is.
Well Uber is heading off for reserves tomorrow and we have company here at least through Monday. They have turned out to be lovely people which has been fun. I haven't gotten a single thing done though... which accounts for the lack of posting. They went off to Savannah for the weekend and I am hoping they enjoy themselves. I am going to try and get some crafting started up again tomorrow during some down time... wish me luck!
