Hail in July ... what gives?

I’m sitting here in the dark because the power is out… and there is a freakishly large storm heading over the top of us… a storm that includes hail… yeah you heard me in FLORIDA in JULY … HAIL… Hoping the cars aren’t damaged. You should hear the thunder it’s the kind you can feel in your chest. I tried to capture some video and pictures for you. If you zoom in on this you can see chunks of ice in the air.

On another note I am contemplating painting my front door and did a mockup for you… a mock up that isn't at all the color I really want… I was going for a Santorini blue but photoshop isn’t cooperating with that color… I spent a half an hour trying… (a half an hour I had power : ( ) Anyway is this a completely atrocious idea? It seems so good in my head… but it could just be very, very bad in reality... My front door is hidden around a corner and can’t be seen from anywhere else in the house. I was thinking painting it could be fun because there is not much else that can be done in the small area and everyone gets confused about which door leads out. Anyway use your imagination for the right color and let me know what you think. Feel free to tell me if you hate it!

Oh and I am returning the table cloth. I just don’t think it is quite right…

**Edited to add** Well the power came back on at 8... I spent the rest of the night getting the house clean... so no crafting unfortunately.

Cloudy

Last night while grilling out we met some new neighbors, Uber spotted and I of course had to catch... who can resist a face like that?
Gertrude apparently lives in the jasmine/under the grill. I was thrilled to find her because I have been hoping for a frog for a very long time. Apparently it took getting rid of the lizards to have one move in... if I had only known sooner!
Then Uber realized there was not one but two! So I made him hold Gerty and I caught Bert... he was a bit more mischievous and feisty!

I can't wait to see if they really stick around I tucked them back into the jasmine so hopefully they weren't too upset about the photo shoot. I wish more animals were like frogs... except the peeing part....

We were going to go kayaking but rain was in the forecast so we slept in and made breakfast. YUM! We felt kind of bummed because the weather was gorgeous and sunny outside.
So we headed out to the beach for a long walk. It was low tide and the beach was huge and there were a bunch of shells, but more interesting then that was the sky.
The clouds were out of control.
Especially this one that was followed by many, many more just like it. We completed our walk just in time for the sky to open up.

This evening we helped a friend move. This was forming the whole time but we thought we were going to beat it.

Not quite though the rain started on our second trip.... and the flooding...

This is us going through a very large puddle... which was fun... of course is wasn't our stuff in the back of the truck... it all made it through ok, just a little damp.

All together a relaxing day ended with yummy Mexican food, and the discovery of a Greek restaurant which we will be checking out very soon.
I will hopefully have a new crafting item to show you tomorrow. I finished another growth chart I just need the weather to cooperate so I can get some photos. I really wish I had more completed projects like Mum has managed but this week has been very long and not all together successful in many ways, I seem to get only an hour in the evenings to work and that is just not enough to see any real progress. Well I'm off to bed since I am currently falling asleep while typing!

Beach Day…kinda

Since Fey came through I wanted to head out to the beach to see what it looked like I was hoping for some cool shells or teeth. We went out there this morning we like to go to Hanna Park it is great there usually aren’t a lot of people out, there’s plenty of parking and the beach is clean. We paid to get in and 1 minute later (literally) the sky opened up and poured…. So we hung out in the car for a while because weather changes in Florida every 10 minutes and then we headed out to the beach when it stopped raining

We didn’t get to do a whole lot of walking because we didn’t want to get stuck too far away from the car if there was another down pour since we weren’t dressed to be wet just for a walk. The beach looked TOTALLY different there used to be a lot more sand the beach went out about 15 to 20 yards farther then where it is now. About a quarter mile down the beach was a washed up navigation buoy (Uber is so smart)

I never realized how big those things are! Usually the life guard chair would be out where the people are in the water. Here's the closest we get to a good shot together... Uber's specialty

The swells were HUGE...compared to normal and there was a ton of foam... not sure exactly what causes foam but it kind of creeps me out… there were some people out but they weren’t getting very far into the water it looked slightly dangerous out today with Hanna messing around just South of us (which now is apparently heading almost right for us this Friday as a Category 1… what gives?!?! Oh Uber says we should be good though...)

I messed around looking for shells there were a lot but with the way the beach has changed the water gets deep really fast and the waves coming in are larger so unless you want to get wet it was hard to catch anything good I did find this shell though and it is pretty awesome it only has one little broken spot at the top other then that it is intact. I got to get away with looking because matt didn’t want to go to far (YEAH!!) and he was on the phone. I love looking for shells!

Well after being out there for about an hour with occasional rain drops scaring us the sky cleared and it got extremely hot to the point of feeling like your skin was sizzling off so we decided rather then get burnt we better head in for the day since we hadn’t slathered any sunscreen on. It was nice to get out there though…

Lost power and cable (thankfully it has come back on). I am crafting but thinking maybe I shouldn't be... cause I am tired... Some of my garden is blown over when matt brings the camera home I will take pictures it is raining in every direction have you ever seen that before??? Its scary! I will get back to a more interesting crafting post a little later today!

Ahhh... Florida

I am so excited summer is almost officially over in- what is it- one more day? Ahhhh… cool fall weather. Wait WHAT?!? I live in Florida and summer NEVER ends here... oh that's right. I must have been day dreaming...

I wish the weather forecasters would make up their mind are we having a tropical storm or a hurricane or a tornado or a tropical storm or wait is it going to be sunny... ok maybe not that last one but same difference...Matt’s work is canceled so he is sitting at home right now doing I am not quite sure what (homework supposedly) no such luck for me, we have stuff that needs to get out so unless the state orders us out...I am at work. Oh but church is canceled… Meanwhile feeling very good about buying flood insurance this year... haha

This is the present weather forecast for our area. I put a red dot where our house is. Hopefully it will stay on this track and not hit us but we are in the bands. Went to stock up on food after being scolded for not being prepared... lots of fun crowded stores and empty shelves... we went to walmart of all places because I needed fuel. If you know me you know walmart is not in my vocabulary but for stocking the house up on junk food it did the trick. Meanwhile Matt has tomorrow off too and I will probably once again be working... well I am off to watch more Dexter... which by the way is wierd but addictive.
