A weekend of sewing... and inflicting unnecessary pain on myself...

Thanks for all of the organizer love! I am really stoked that you all liked it so much!

Here's the second Kitchen aide cover completed. Even though the outside is done out of the same fabric I think they both have a different feel to them since I didn't get quite the same cuts and it's not in the same order.

I think this one maybe my favorite out of the two...

a peek of the inside

Okay well I might like the brown polka dots more then the green ... but that is just because I have green walls in my kitchen so it's a little much with all of the green going on. This is a Moda print.

These will be up in the shop tomorrow... since I have run out of time to get them up tonight.

This is actually what I have been working on since Thursday night...
Covers for my extra table leafs and living room cabinet shelves. They turned out really well... they could of gone a little easier if i had just gotten a quarter yard more of the fabric (really really big ARGH considering I got the fabric for $4 a yard on sale : ( !!! ) But for working with the fabric I bought they turned out really great- the only down side is they are fitted and the leafs must go in the cover in a specific direction. Which actually isn't terrible I was just planning on them being more bulky and kind of what ever.
They are duck cloth on the outside and are lined with felt. Then there is industrial strength Velcro that keeps them closed. Which by the way how are you supposed to work with that stuff?? I tried to sew the Velcro on after ironing (which is something I have always done before) and the glue is SO STICKY that my machine couldn't sew it. And as I was seam ripping out the little bit of thread that did make it through the gunky stick mess the seam ripper broke and the broken metal part took a rather large chunk out of my thumb... Moo!! Anyway I am now in the market for a much sturdier seam ripper....

These things are slightly addictive I worked on them during the drive to and from Atlanta... they really eat up way more time then they should!! Still not sure what I am going to do with them... but I have some ideas.

Hope you all had a good rest of your weekend we finished up the last season of Dexter tonight and I really enjoyed it... though I cant watch too much of it at once (well not the ones when he is killing people) because I get bummed out... the death scenes are a little graphic...
I am nursing two very bruised knees right now we went out to eat at Five Guys (a burger joint) after church and I fell - it was so painful that I wasn't even embarrassed... Uber caught my head so it didn't hit the floor... which is good because my hands didn't have time to catch me since they were full with a drink I managed not to spill...why not spilling mattered more as I was falling then catching myself I don't know...I dont think I actually though I was going to fall though. The floors had greasy patches I guess... I thought I hit liquid but there was nothing there. I was surprised the staff didn't seem to care... we were there with people from Church though so I didn't want to be a problem... though one of the girls with us hit the same patch as I did luckily she was wearing flats... so anyway just thought I would share that lovely story with you if you managed to make it this far down in the post.

Showing you the rest of the sneak peek

This is what I gave a sneak peek of a while back. It is an organizer with my moms new logo on it... of course I embellished it just a little.

I've been enjoying playing with felt. There is really just so much that you can do with it.

Originally the initials and tree were going to be painted on... but then I decided hey why not just embroider them... yeah it was a little crazy. I worked on it over Christmas (while playing cards) and on the 8 hour drive back from NC and for the next 2-3 weeks at night while listening to Brisinger (which was an awesome book by the way)

I really dig how it turned out... I was a little worried... the whole time
The birds are completely pieced ... I dont think you can see that as well as I was hoping.

The nest is two different layers of felt with the top layer cut so the bottom lighter layer can show through

Hopefully mum will take some better pictures then I was able to get. Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Kitchen Aid Cover

So here is the Kitchen Aid cover which you all got a sneak peek at in yesterdays post. Mum got a new one for her birthday (was I allowed to say that?!) So I decided to make her a cover since there just aren't any cool ones out there. While I was at it I decided to make me one as well and then I thought I would make a few for the shop. So here is one that is going in the shop ~

The pattern is one I made up about a year ago and I really like it. It's pretty basic - no pocket because I really just don't see the point of them and bell shaped. This one is in a linen with a patchwork strip of Anna Marie Horner fabric and two Moda prints one of which correlates to the inside fabric.

Did I mention it is reversible?

I totally dig that part. This is a Moda print it's brown with green dots. I LOVE polka dot fabric but REALLY how many places can you use it and look good?
More to show later.

Where I've been... well kind of

We headed out to Atlanta this weekend to visit family and pick up my new dinning table *YEAH* we had a cold snap this last week see all of the treacherous ice on the car?? BRRR!!!

The family we went to see is Uber's cousin and wife. This is a cat who adopted them and I just had to show you it's face. love it!

On Sunday we went into downtown Atlanta and bummed around saw the CNN Center and did the World of Coke Tour. And if any coke representatives are scouring the Internet for mentions I would just like to let you know you really could have done better.

Here is Uber and his family... this is the only picture of them that I got (oops!) People think we all look alike.... we just don't really agree... though they are totally cute!
Here's Uber getting ready for his 4d experience.

Here's me struggling (this is what I do)

Here's the best part of this place. The BEAR oh my goodness I totally wanted to take this guy home. His face is animated so he could change his expression and blink. It was AWESOME. This is the best costume I have ever seen!!
The tasting room was a zoo. You could taste all 67 drinks produced by coca cola. Apparently some of them are just foul, though I took peoples word for it.

The Table -Thanks MUM!! I LOVE IT!! Though it is taking some getting used to since it is such a MAJOR change for the room. It's the tavern table from ZGalleries.

It's a narrower table then usual which is something I was looking for and is distressed but not country looking. It came with two 18" leafs, which will most likely never be used while we are in this house. (this thing gets HUGE)

Since I was taking pictures I thought I would show off the rest of the downstairs. This is for you Sherie since you said you hadn't seen any pictures of the house.
The kitchen (with a sneak peak for mom).

The dinning room.

The living room.
So now you've seen it!

Bananas, Acorns and Pinecones

Pure Scrumptiousness let me tell you. This used to be a weekly item when Uber worked at a port in SoCal and got free bananas. Since moving to Florida not so much because it means I have to remember to buy them. Anyway I think I pretty much have this recipe down to perfection. It was originally my moms (I am not sure where she got it from) I hope she doesn't mind me sharing it... I pretty much throw what ever I want in once I am done following the recipe. Two of my favs are brown sugar and honey. Pecans to me are a given but since some people are allergic I often leave them out now.

Banana Bread
Yield: two loaf pans or one Bundt pan

3 ½ cups flour
1 ½ cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 ½ cups mashed brown bananas (3-4 large)
2 eggs
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Optional ingredients:
1 cup chopped pecans
¼ cup brown sugar

1-2 Tbsp honey

Preheat oven to 350°F
Heavily spray 2 loaf pans.
Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl. Stir until just blended. Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake 50 to 55 minutes. Cool 5 minutes then turn on rack to cool completely.

What's better than banana bread in a loaf? Banana bread in the shape of acorns that's what. I found this pan at Williams Sonoma after Christmas on SALE I had been eyeing it FOREVER and now am asking myself why I didn't get two?!?

one batch filled up three pans.

These puppies disapeared SO fast. It was actually rather scary considering I KNOW the dough makes two loafs....

Isn't it SO CUTE!

On to other cute things. I finally made some felt pinecones. I have seen them quite a few places and thought they were so cute. I am not sure I did them quite right but I am happy with them... now if I just knew what I am going to do with them... because I have a feeling there is going to be more!

Lazy Saturday

We went out to the driving range to play with Uber's new toy. I took a bunch of picture and it's hysterical he looks angry every time he swings at the ball.

Here's a video

This picture is purely to show you that I am now ok with posting pictures of my backside. I stopped eating candy and I lost 4 pounds and it was all in my thighs. Whoot people

Me in action

The determined look of a serious golfer. Wait what is she wearing?

Yes people I bought myself some blinging glasses. I am now going to throw on everyones favorite black eyed peas song and dance around the house... at least Uber will be thrilled.

I LOVE the Schleich figurines I collect them when ever I find them for a good price... I got a few more today the Clydesdale and the goat animal (hmmm not really sure what it is...lol)... yeah I know they are kids toys, I totally let kids who come over play with them! See I am nice!

Moms Bday present for Uber... finally found it today. We were in the toy section of Target (no comment) and I had been looking for this thing forever.
I was all sly like 'which nerf gun was it that you were looking at again?'
Uber 'I am not seeing it (turns around) oh wait there it is' which was a total shock to me cause I missed it
me 'oh I really think that you should take that home'
Uber 'Yeah so do I' (quizzical look cause he is wondering if I am well)
me 'No really, this is Mums birthday present for you'
Uber 'Seriously....(look of pure glee) AWESOME!!!!'
He proceeds to walk around for the next hour giggling.
Yeah this could be dangerous. He is already talking about wiring it to a remote control car battery. Mark my words nothing good can come of this!

Wait ...I stand corrected... something can.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. There is crafting going on over here but it is all top secret.

Ubers 365th day before 30

That's right Ubers getting old!! His birthday was on Saturday and it was all about him!
His favorite breakfast is Breakfast burritos we used to get them from a Mexican bakery around the corner from our apartment in SoCal. Since that is a little too far away now he makes his own version. Which are almost as good... if I could just get him to make his tortillas from scratch! Its cheddar cheese, spicy sausage, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and salsa. They are SOOOOOO good... and SOOOO bad for you!

Uber opened his secret present which he was thrilled with. He also got a new golf bag and driver. And no it isn't cold here he just feels the need to wear the hat when ever he is in the house... don't ask.
Then we headed out for some putt putt and arcade games

I'm not really great at this BUT I did get a hole in one and he didn't... Whoot! However the hole in is one of the few times I got the ball in the hole... because you know if I dont make it in two tries then I start goofing off...

Then went out to Ruth Chris for dinner and stuffed ourselves... YUM! This is the view we had at the restraunt.

Uber wasted no time getting his board up and working. And we have had no problems losing quite a few hours this weekend playing with it. Who knew throwing small sharp objects could be so addicitive.
Here are my kitchen drawers. They seriously mess with my groove. Especially since Uber never puts anything in the same place.

I finally went to Bed Bath and Beyond and came up with a solution. It's not perfect but it definately makes me happier.

We'll just have to see how Uber proof they are.
